Today I had doubts about just my purpose in life. Even though I've done really well for myself professionally, made a lot of friends over the years, and handled some family setbacks with love and concern for everyone, today I felt as though I had not accomplished much in life. It was one of those moments of self-doubt that left a crippling feeling, and even caused a bit of anxiety :(
So I began a process of self-reflection, which I encourage everyone to do, and find my 'true purpose', or 'core', and came to the realization that one of my primary purposes in this life is to help others improve their lives.
I want to improve the lives of people by showing them there is often a way out of anxiety, out of social hurdles, out of the feeling of being stuck. We can all do this by becoming a better person, giving it time and approaching things with patience. As there is no way to keep a score of our progress in life, we often wonder if we:
could be doing more?
should I have waited for better things to come?
what should I do?
These words of self-doubt resonated deeply with me that day, and I believe the key here is to recognise that sometimes you have to wait for your purpose to appear, and the success will follow.
Here's another way of looking at it: we may want to run a 10k race. So we go to training/running practice. But that doesn't mean that the very next day, the very next moment, we will be able to run the 10k race. We have to come back, and train again. And again! Only after there have been a consecurive string of trainings will be able to seize the opportunity and run the 10k race.
However, there's a lot of people in this world, and some of the opportunities are very limited, so we have to find happiness in between those moments of opportunity. And its in between those moments when we're the most vulnerable, and susceptible to self-doubt. But if we are able to see the forest for the trees, we'll find that the moments between those life-elevating opportunities are just another type of opportunity - to train, to become better, and to determine the purpose in our lives.
And when the opportunities come down, we have to seize them and that is what defines your next purpose in life.
This is what life is NOT:
Opportunity -> opportunity -> opportunity
This is what life IS:
Opportunity -> things -> fun -> training -> Opportunity
Within the moments of opportunity is our chance to RECHARGE, and that's one of the best ways recommended by extremely successful people to continue moving forward without burning out. Once you have decided your purpose in life (the Opportunity to become what you want), within those moments can do anything to self-improve.
You can study, travel, make friends, pick up a sport, volunteer, and perhaps even use the FourHundredPercent method to AMPLIFY the RESULTS in your life to reach and exceed your individual, unique Purpose.
You can really add those things up, and be ready for the next opportunity and enjoy life while doing it!
So my advice to everyone reading, keep doing what you're doing, opportunities are coming. Don't feel dejected now because you're not getting the advancement that you want. Focus on what is working in your life. Perhaps you have your peers' RESPECT, and are getting professional projects. Perhaps you're dating a 10. Perhaps you have a great sense of humor and understand people right away (which is a great skill to have).
Opportunity comes very infrequently in life. But it does come, especially if KEEP YOUR EYES AND EARS OPEN. It's like luck. But in between those lucky moments, or opportunities, you need to live life, and you need to grow as a person and that is the key. Don't focus too much on the opportunity; focus on making the best use of the time in between those opportunities. I
